Collagen with hyaluronic acid pairs two of the skin's own structural ingredients: collagen, the protein that gives skin firmness, and hyaluronic acid, the molecule that helps it hold water. Collagen Powder+ combines 20 g of grass-fed bovine collagen peptides with 90 mg of hyaluronic acid and 30 mcg of biotin in every two-scoop serving, with one other ingredient and no flavor. This guide explains what each of the three ingredients adds, how the serving works, and how to fit it into a day.
Key takeaways
- Collagen with hyaluronic acid pairs two of the skin's own structural ingredients: collagen, the protein that gives skin firmness, and hyaluronic acid, the molecule that helps it hold water.
- Each two-scoop serving is 20 g and provides 18 g of protein.
- The biotin amount is 30 mcg, 100% of the Daily Value; the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements notes that biotin above recommended intakes can skew some lab results, so tell your clinician about it before blood work.
- The label direction is two scoops once a day with 8 ounces of water or your favorite hot or cold recipe. Label caution: if you are pregnant, nursing, allergic, have a medical condition or take medication, consult a doctor before use.
Why combine collagen with hyaluronic acid?
Inside the skin, collagen fibers form the scaffold and hyaluronic acid fills the space between them, binding water so skin feels supple. The two work side by side, which is why they are so often paired in supplements and skincare.
Taken by mouth, both are digested before the body uses them. Collagen peptides are broken into smaller peptides and amino acids. Hyaluronic acid is broken into smaller fragments as well. Research on each by mouth is still developing, but it is a reasonable pairing:
- A 2023 meta-analysis of 26 randomized trials reported improvements in skin hydration and elasticity with hydrolyzed collagen compared with placebo. The trials, mostly in women, gave 372 mg to 12 g of collagen a day, most often from fish; one trial used bovine collagen. Our 20 g bovine serving is more than any of them tested. The authors found several biases in the trials and call for larger ones.
- A 2017 open study with no placebo group, funded by the drink's maker, Dr Niedermaier Pharma, gave 20 women aged 45 to 60 a daily drink of hyaluronic acid in a fermented food concentrate with biotin, vitamin C, copper, zinc and silica; skin hydration and elasticity improved over 40 days. The paper does not give the hyaluronic acid amount, and the authors say the result applies to that preparation only, not to hyaluronic acid in general.
Those studies used different products, sources and doses from Collagen Powder+, so they are not a promise for any single formula, including ours.

What does each ingredient do?
Bovine collagen peptides
Collagen is the protein that gives skin and connective tissue their structure. Collagen Powder+ uses collagen peptides from grass-fed bovine, and its label does not list which collagen types they supply. The formula supports improved elasticity of skin and supports joint health and mobility.*
Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in skin and in the fluid that cushions joints. It is best known for holding water. In this formula it is added as sodium hyaluronate, a stable salt form that mixes easily.
Biotin
Biotin is a B vitamin your body uses in normal energy metabolism, and it is a familiar part of hair, skin and nail routines. Here it sits at 100% of the Daily Value, the same as the 30 mcg adequate intake for adults listed by the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements. The ODS also warns that taking biotin beyond recommended intakes can cause falsely high or falsely low results on some lab tests, so tell your clinician about every biotin product you take before lab work.
How to take collagen with hyaluronic acid every day
The label direction for Collagen Powder+ is: "Adults, take two scoops (20g) (included) once a day with 8 ounces of water or your favorite hot or cold recipe!" A few easy ways to do that:
- Morning coffee or tea. Stir the two scoops in after pouring; the powder is unflavored.
- A smoothie. Add it with the fruit and blend as usual.
- Oatmeal or yogurt. Stir it into the bowl once it has cooled slightly.
- Plain water. Mix in 8 ounces, stir well and drink.
The 560 g container holds 28 servings, which is a 28-day supply at one serving a day. For more mixing ideas, see our guide on how to take collagen powder. In the 2023 meta-analysis by Pu and colleagues, most of the trials ran 8 to 12 weeks.
Who should check with a professional first?
The label asks anyone who is pregnant, nursing, allergic, has a medical condition or takes medication to consult a doctor before using it. The collagen is bovine, so it is not vegan or vegetarian. The label also says not to use it if the product has been opened or tampered with in any way, to keep it out of reach of children, not to use it if the safety seal is damaged or missing, and to store it in a cool, dry place.
Every batch is third-party tested for purity and potency, and it is manufactured in an NSF-certified, GMP-certified, FDA-registered facility in the USA with globally sourced materials. See our standards. If you prefer capsules, Collagen Complex+ is our multi-source collagen capsule, with 1,800 mg of collagen per three-capsule serving and a label direction of one to two servings a day. It contains fish (cod) and egg. Its label says not to exceed the recommended dose, asks pregnant or nursing mothers, anyone under 18 and anyone with a known medical condition to consult a physician first, and says to keep it out of reach of children, not to use it if the safety seal is damaged or missing, and to store it in a cool, dry place. Blend totals are on the label; the amounts inside each blend are not. Both products supply collagen, so add up the total collagen before taking both.
Frequently asked questions about collagen with hyaluronic acid
Is collagen with hyaluronic acid better than collagen alone?
It adds a second ingredient that the skin uses to hold water, which makes it a sensible pairing. Direct comparisons of collagen with and without hyaluronic acid are limited, so think of it as a convenient combination rather than a proven upgrade.
Can I put collagen powder in hot coffee?
Yes. The label direction includes hot or cold recipes, and the unflavored powder stirs into coffee or tea. Add it after pouring and stir well. Label caution: if you are pregnant, nursing, allergic, have a medical condition or take medication, consult a doctor before use. Each serving has 30 mcg of biotin, and the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements says biotin beyond recommended intakes can affect some lab tests, so tell your clinician before a blood test.
Is collagen powder the same as bovine cartilage powder?
No. Bovine cartilage powder is ground cartilage, which carries type II collagen along with other cartilage compounds. Collagen Powder+ is bovine collagen peptides plus added hyaluronic acid and biotin; its label does not list collagen types.
How much biotin is in Collagen Powder+?
Collagen Powder+ has 30 mcg of biotin per two-scoop serving, which is 100% of the Daily Value. If you also take a hair, skin and nail formula, add both amounts together. Label caution: if you are pregnant, nursing, allergic, have a medical condition or take medication, consult a doctor before use. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements notes that biotin above recommended intakes can cause falsely high or low lab results; tell your clinician about all the biotin you take before a blood test.
How long does one container last?
The 560 g (20 oz) container holds 28 servings, so it lasts 28 days at one two-scoop serving a day. Label caution: if you are pregnant, nursing, allergic, have a medical condition or take medication, consult a doctor before use. Because the powder has biotin, mention it to your clinician before lab work; the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements notes that biotin above recommended intakes can skew some test results.
